Ulun Danu Temple
Also called Lake Temple, this is situated on Lake Beratan at Bedugul and is one of the most famous, most photographed temples in all of Bali. The temple seems to float on water and its reflection in the calm lake makes one of the most attractive aspects of the view. Access is through a beautiful park with bright floral gardens which are well-groomed and well maintained. Somewhat more “touristy” are locals with exotic reptiles and animals with which you can have your photo taken.
Lake Danau Beratan
This is one of the most famous caldera lakes in Bali. Amazing scenery surrounds the lake with the mountains behind it often covered in cloud. There are many activities on and around the lake, including water sports such as parasailing, jet-ski, speed-boating, canoeing and fishing. In addition this is a terrific area for trekking.
Lakes Danau Buyan and Tamblingan
These are two other caldera lakes of a trio that includes Lake Beratan. There are many farms around Lake Buyan, which also offers water sports, boating and fishing. There are rustic campsites on the shore of Lake Buyan. Trekking is very popular here, including routes around Lake Tamblingan; to Agung Lesong; from southern side of Lake Buyan over the saddle to Lake Tamblingan; to Goa Jepang, Gunung Catur, Pura Puncak Mangu.
Candi Kuning Market
This market is located on the main road into Bedugul along Lake Beratan. It is a traditional fruit and vegetable market with a huge range of fresh and dried fruits as well as fabrics and souvenirs. It is most vibrant in the mornings, although stalls and shops remain open throughout the day. It is a colourful spectacle and worth spending some time in, perhaps sampling the luscious fruits of the area.
